At least 11 killed after Israeli strike flattens building in central Beirut, Civil Defense says
Israeli Strike on Beirut #
At least 11 people were killed, and several others injured when an Israeli airstrike flattened a multi-story residential building in central Beirut. Rescue workers searched for survivors under the rubble in the densely populated Basta area.
The attack created a deep crater in the area, reportedly caused by powerful bombs. A total of 23 individuals were injured in the strike. The Israel Defense Forces did not issue an evacuation order ahead of the attack and have not commented on the incident.
This attack is the latest in a series of Israeli strikes on central Beirut following the killing of a Hezbollah spokesperson last Sunday. Recent airstrikes have primarily targeted Hezbollah’s stronghold in Beirut’s southern suburbs. Previously, an alleged strike near Baalbek resulted in the death of a university hospital director and six colleagues. The Israel Defense Forces are investigating reports of the strike on the hospital.
